Important Decisions For A Windows Host
One of the very important decisions that will need to be made by any new entry in the web hosting platform area will be which of the technologies they want the server to be on. The two most commonly used choices are the Linux web server and the Windows web server.
FTP commands and control panel- these actions are supported by both the Windows and the Linux servers, but there are some modest differences as many FTP programs are only designed with one platform in mind so certain commands may end up not working on certain platforms. Because of this, you may occasionally receive messages regarding an error when running some FTP commands on one of these servers.
* Support - contrasted with Windows, Linux does have less support available for parts of their technology, and so this can be costly and frustrating from time to time. Linux runs on very specific technology when compared with the greater flexibility of Windows.
* Reliability and Security - Linux has the reputation of having better technology for security protocols, as it is generally utilized by system engineers and developers exclusively, while Windows proves to be the main system employed on personal computers in homes, so its security protocols are typically not so advanced. Because of Window’s likelihood of being hacked into successfully, Linux could probably have contributed to Window’s loss of users as these users begin to find flaws in common home systems.
-Performance- Linux is generally thought to be a slightly better performing system primarily due to the manner in which the Linux server is packaged. These higher-performance Linux plans are designed specifically more so for the customers they target. The flip side of that is that Windows provides an approach that is more one size fits all.
- Upgrading, if you plan to upgrade from Linux to Windows at some point then you can expect this upgrade to go easily and smoothly, you can go from Linux to Windows without much hassle at all. On the other hand, however, it can be much more difficult to say the least to convert your website form a Windows hosting system to that of Linux.
